On June 24, an International Seminar on Engineering Education and Engineering activities, organized by the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE) and the Central Asian Association for Accreditation of Education (CAAAE), was held at Shihezi University (Shihezi, China). The event brought together leading experts from both countries to discuss current issues in engineering education and cooperation.

From the Kazakh side, the following took part: Professor Abzhapparov Abdumutalip, President of CAAAE; Burkitbaev Mukash, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CAAAE and Vice-President of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE); and Sagidolda Yerulan, Director for External Relations and Strategic Development of CAAAE. The Chinese side was represented by: Fan Siping, Director of the Science and Technology Talent Service Department of the Chinese Engineering Society; Gao Xuewen, Head of the Secretariat of the Chinese Engineering Society; Xiang Chen, Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Chemical Industry; Zhu Tong, Deputy Director of the International Department of the Chinese Society of Chemical Industry; Zhao Qingzhang, director of the research department of the Chinese Society of Chemical Industry; Wu Xiangwei, Vice-Rector of Shihezi University; Wu Dayong, Director of the Rectorate of Shihezi University; Wang Bingyi, Deputy Director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, Shihezi University; Zhou Li, Party Secretary of Shihezi University; Yu Feng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shihezi University; and Dong Tianlei, translator.

Representatives of both sides made presentations at the seminar. The Chinese delegation was represented by Wu Xiangwei, Fan Siping and Zhu Tong. Abzhapparov Abdumutalip, Burkitbaev Mukash and Sagidolda Erulan spoke from the side of CAAAE.

The seminar was an important step in strengthening international cooperation in the field of engineering education and professional activities. Participants discussed issues of improving the quality of engineering education, professional training and international accreditation, as well as the creation of bilateral mechanisms for mutual recognition of engineering competencies. The Chinese side expressed interest in synchronizing its educational standards with European ones.

At the seminar, important agreements were reached aimed at improving the quality of training of engineering specialists. Particular attention was paid to the creation of a bilateral mechanism for mutual recognition of engineering competencies between engineering organizations in China and Kazakhstan. Both sides pledged to make every effort to facilitate the orderly flow of engineers between countries and throughout the region.

The main areas of cooperation discussed at the talks include establishing a dialogue platform and mechanism for long-term interaction between the engineering communities of China and Kazakhstan, providing professional training and site visits to improve the skills of engineers, promoting mutual recognition of engineering competencies, strengthening exchanges to create equal opportunities for women engineers and career growth of young professionals, joint efforts in the field of engineering for sustainable development and improving the social status of engineers, improving the quality of engineering education through international accreditation of programs.

The parties agreed on the importance of international accreditation of engineering education programs, teacher training and the development of exchange programs. These measures are aimed at achieving a high level of professionalism and competence among engineers, which will contribute to sustainable development and technological progress in both countries. We are confident that this seminar will be a significant step towards strengthening cooperation and improving the quality of engineering education in China and Kazakhstan.
